HELPING YOU GO GREEN!
Many of our customers are seeking Leeds certification. As a member of the U.S. Green Building Council Sunset is doing our part in educating our employees and implementing green strategies in our own company and for our customers. What could be more green than helping to restore existing buildings, maintain sustainability and by doing so preserve more green space? Heat Loss in the winter and AC loss in the summer months can be a huge waste of resources.

A. Sunset can provide detailed building inspections to help you maintain your building in an environmentally sound manner. Using our scaffold rigs, aerial lifts, and repelling equipment, we can inspect your facade, providing digital photos and a detailed report.

B. Based on our inspection, or independent analysis such as thermal imaging, we can give you a condition report with our recommendations. If there are any areas of immediate concern, where joints are failing or pointing is needed, we can provide a quick response T&M services to help ensure you're not letting valuable energy escape your building. We will continue to educate ourselves on Leeds certification and make every effort to use Green Seal certified products. Back to Top

REDUCING OUR CARBON FOOTPRINT
In an effort to reduce our own carbon footprint we've pinpointed three areas that we're committed to improve.

1. Cleaning. When it comes to our window cleaning & power washing services, Sunset will use ONLY green or biodegradable products. In many cases we have been able to use pure water (deionized/reverse osmosis) and eliminate the need for chemicals all together. We are currently evaluating an automated window cleaning machine, dubbed the Green Machine, which uses no chemicals and its only by-product is pure H2O.

2. Waterproofing. There are a variety of green products used in the waterproofing industry today. While it's ultimately the customer's choice to specify, we will make every effort to point out green alternatives.

3. Fuel Waste. Probably the biggest input we can make is by reducing our emissions in our fleet. We're committed to pursue the most energy efficient vehicles for our company. Effective November 2008, Sunset has begun to switch over its old cargo fleet to the new energy efficient Sprinter vans. The Sprinter cargo van is 25% more fuel efficient than the Ford e-350 with turbo diesel and 18% more efficient than the Chevy 3500 turbo Diesel. The Sprinter is also 15% better than the Chevy 2500 with a gas engine. We are also looking into other options including hybrid vehicles to add to our fleet in 2009/2010. Back to Top
